For SHARE Respondents in the Czech Republic

Statement concerning data protection and absolute confidentiality of your personal information

The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is an international study conducted under the responsibility of the European Research Infrastructure Consortium SHARE-ERIC in cooperation with its Scientific Partner Institutions. In the Czech Republic currently the the Czech Academy of Sciences is responsible for SHARE-CZ the national implementation of the survey. With the implementation of the interviews we have commissioned SCaC in Prague. All parties involved are working in accordance with the legal provisions of data protection.

The purpose of the study is to help researchers better understand the needs and circumstances of people aged 50 or older and their families. It aims at providing scientists with data on health, socio-economic status and social and family networks to address their research questions in relation to the process of population ageing. The study is funded in the Czech Republic by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports in the Czech Republic and the European Commission.

You have been randomly selected to participate in the survey. Your participation in this survey is of course absolutely voluntary.

The results of the survey will be presented in an anonymised form only, i.e. without your names and address. This means that from the results nobody will be able to identify the person who has provided the information in an interview.

The same applies to follow-up interviews with you, which are of importance for understanding the process of ageing, and to interviews with relatives of deceased survey participants, which are important in order to complete their life histories. Information of different interviews relating to the same person is only linked via a code number, i.e. without names and addresses.

We do not transfer any data that reveals your identity to third parties.

Responsible for the compliance with the data protection provisions are:

The SHARE study ends after the last wave of data collection and the subsequent data cleaning and quality checks that are necessary to prepare a final anonymised data set for the purpose of research.

4. After collection of the individual interviews, they will be compiled without names and addresses and the interview data will be analysed (e.g.: Table of results regarding labour situation).
